Harrison McCain Foundation Scholarship

Awarded to any high school student in Canada, with a recognized initiative to funding their own education, who possess strong leadership abilities. Student must posess a minimum average of 80%, and be in financial need.

The Harrison McCain Scholarship is available annually to students attending St. Francis Xavier University who have graduated from a high school in Canada. Each award has a potential value of $16,000 payable over a four year course of study.

Criteria for the award:
Grade 12 average of  80%
Demonstrate financial need
Exhibit leadership qualities
Demonstrate initiative in funding their own education.

Applying for the award:
  • Students must complete the budget form
  • Students must write an essay explaining what the award would mean to you if you were the recipient. 
  • Complete a personal essay outlining extra-curricular, leadership, financial need, work experince and career plans. 
  • Attach two letters of reference (one must be from a Teacher, Principal or Counsellor)
Please note: The number of scholarships available may vary from year to year. Recipients may also accept other scholarships, bursaries, and awards in addition to this award.
